about

Studio Wonder Room is a ‘one woman’ studio based in 'het Zeeheldenkwartier' of The Hague, specialised in pattern design for wallpaper, prints and fabric.

From a young age I have collected objects, in my room there were always pocket treasures, shells and stones on display. I have never stopped collecting, wandering and wondering.

Previously I have worked in marketing for multinationals in lifestyle consumer goods as well as non profit organisations. I followed my dream to work in interior design, but I was always more drawn to the patterns, so I have specialised myself in surface pattern design.

As a pattern addict, I can find inspiration everywhere in architecture, nature and I still scan the beaches, streets or flea markets for treasures. I absorb things quite intensely and pay attention to all random things I come across in daily life. I love to organise all the inspiration and ideas in my head into structural patterns.  By creating structural patterns I can keep my calm and register and capture all the beauty created by nature and humankind.

I like to work with colour as I find that surrounding myself with colour makes me really happy. I love to go to exhibitions in museums and art galleries and watch colour in paintings from Hockney to Rembrandt or to see how a red poppy flower interacts with an otherwise pretty grey street in London. I hope my patterns can brighten up the day a little by adding some colour to your Wonder Room.
